Our Founders

In 2021, Michaela Cunningham and Simon Trevelyan bought a home on Trincomali Heights, Salt Spring Island (Canada) with the dream of creating a folk club dedicated to the traditional music of Ireland, Britain and North America.

You can help make this dream a reality by joining our community and participating in our on-line concerts, master classes and retreats.

Michaela Cunningham was born in Vancouver, grew up on Salt Spring Island and has been playing Concertina, Tin Whistle and singing for over 20 years. In her teens, she nurtured her passion for traditional music through listening to her Irish mother’s recordings and through frequent visits to Ireland.

Her musical style is influenced by the County Clare region, on the West Coast of Ireland. Michaela was taught by a variety of Ireland's most renowned Concertina players.

She has been involved in a number of recording projects and has played with Martin Hayes, Martin Tourish, Sharon Shannon, Kevin Crawford and many others.

Michaela teaches traditional Irish music online to people across North America and Europe. For lessons go to www.irishconcertina.com
